Tai Chi and Qigong Class
Learn Balance and Mobility
Service Description
Welcome! Tai Chi Chuan (or Taijiquan) translates as “Supreme Ultimate Fist” and it’s pronounced “tie jee chwen.” This name comes from the Daoist concept of yin and yang because the training is all about balance and stability in motion. Tai Chi is considered an “internal” martial art due to the focus on coordinating body, breath, and mind. Tai Chi is perfect for anyone wanting to improve their balance, strength, breathwork, circulation, or mood. Learning Tai Chi can feel like learning how to play chess at first. But, once you get the hang of it, you may experience inner calm, sense of joy, better health, and better relationships with those around you. Class Description: Join our 60-minute class each every Wednesday from 6:00-7:00pm and learn the basic concepts of Tai Chi and Qigong. Build your confidence in the Yang 10 form for those brand new or early into their Tai Chi practice and then learn the Yang 24 form. We begin and end every class with gentle Qigong (pronounced “chee gung”) techniques. Forms can be easily adapted for students with mobility issues. About the Teacher: Jeremy Joseph was born and raised in the Bay Area and is a life-long learner of Tai Chi and Qigong. Jeremy was certified by Tai Chi Healthways in 2020 to teach the Yang 10 form, which is very welcoming to anyone brand new to Tai Chi. He became certified to teach the Yang 24 form in 2022, which is suitable for advanced beginners.
